We Have Seen the Future, and It Stinks
But in a good way!
Dominion Energy and Vanguard Renewables are investing more than $200 million in a project to capture methane from dairy farms across the country for reuse as renewable natural gas. The gassy byproduct will heat homes, power businesses and fuel vehicles, the partnering organizations say.
Multiple projects are underway in Georgia, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, with more planned. “The environmental, consumer and agricultural benefits of these projects are truly groundbreaking,” noted Diane Leopold, Dominion’s co-COO.
Dominion and Vanguard estimate their efforts will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 450,000 metric tons, the same as taking almost 100,000 cars off the road.
